Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport is located in the capital, Tbilisi, 17 kilometers from the center. Tbilisi Airport is the main strategic center of the Caucasus region. Near Tbilisi Airport there are three cargo-service companies: Georgia Gateway, Cargo Service, and Lasare, which provide customs services.
Since 31 October 2005, Tbilisi Airport (tbilisis aeroporti) has been under the management of TAV Urban Georgia. After the new terminal was built, the construction of which began in 2007, the airport developed rapidly. Tbilisi Airport ensures the safe take-off and landing of aircraft. On the airport grounds there is a wide runway, an apron, and taxiways.
The Tbilisi–Airport route is served by bus number 37, whose stop is at the hall exit. The bus departs every half hour, and the fare is 1 GEL.
Besides the bus, you’ll find taxis at the airport, whose cost to the city is about 25 GEL. Taxis are stationed here 24 hours a day.
The parking lot of Tbilisi International Airport has two entrances and exits and is designed for 370 cars. Use is paid, and payment is made at the payment booth located at the exit.
The passenger statistics of Tbilisi Airport increase every year. For example, if in 2007 it served 600,000 passengers, by 2013 this number had grown significantly — to 1,436,046.
From Tbilisi Airport, about 37 companies operate flights to destinations around the world. These are: LOT Polish Airlines, Belavia Airlines, Lufthansa, Flydubai, airBaltic, and so on.
At the airport you can use souvenir shops, pharmacies, various food outlets, and stalls where you can buy Georgian delicacies such as churchkhela, tklapi, honey, and so on.
In 2015 the Tbilisi City Assembly gave this airport the name of Shota Rustaveli.
